BBC Wales writes:

Manager Brian Flynn saw his new-look Wales Under-21 side enjoy a comfortable victory against their Northern Irish counterparts at the Oval in Belfast.
Sam Vokes marked his debut with a goal after just 36 seconds converting Ched Evans' cross from close range.

Wales extended their lead when Joe Jacobson flighted a superb 22-yard free-kick into the top corner.

Evans then grabbed a brace, heading home another Jacobson free-kick, then showing superb vision to score again.

Bournemouth's Vokes - who only realised he was eligible to play for Wales at the beginning of the season - gave Wales the perfect start as Northern Ireland were caught cold.

After Jacobson's 11th-minute free-kick had given home goalkeeper Jonathan Tuffey no chance, Northern Ireland were stung into action.

Craig Cathcart, on his 18th birthday, found himself in a good position six minutes later but could not get a decent touch after Daryl Fordyce had carved out the opening.

Then in the 23rd minute Kieran McKenna homed in on goal for Northern Ireland only to stray marginally offside.

Wales, however, looked dangerous every time they broke forward and went 3-0 ahead after 31 minutes when Evans rose highest to convert another pin-point set-piece from Cardiff's Jacobson.

Northern Ireland were struggling to put their passes together but McKenna tested Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey on the stroke of half-time with a fierce shot from 25 yards.

Wales started the second period where they left and went 4-0 ahead with Evans showing superb vision to score his second goal of the game.

Flynn obviously felt the match was out of the home side's reach as he changed his goalkeepers in the 57th minute, bringing on Owain Fon Williams for Hennessey.

Northern Ireland almost pulled a goal back in the 68th minute but Fon Williams made a good block.

Flynn took the chance to use all his seven substitutes with the forthcoming European Championship qualifiers in mind.
