Report: A hard-fought opening game in this year's Four Nations Tournament saw honours even between Wales and Scotland.
Wales looked to have taken the lead through Llanelli's Rhys Griffiths after 21 minutes but his goal was chalked-off for offside. Graham Evans of Caersws did get the opening goal on 23 minutes when he latched on to a through ball and shot-home in the top right hand corner.
At that stage Wales seemed to just about have the upper hand, with some good work in midfield from the forceful Adrian Harris of Bath City and Michael Byrne of Northwich Victoria. However, the Scots came back on the stroke of half time with a well placed header from Robbie Ross (Edinburgh City) that beat Wales goalkeeper Ashley Morris to his right.
The second half was only a few minutes old when a collision between keeper Morris and striker Ross resulted in them both being stretchered off the field. In the case of Morris, it was a bad injury and he was taken to hospital. He was replaced by Haverfordwest County's Lee Idzi.
There was no further scoring, as both sides tried to go for the win an the three points. In the other match in the competition, England were made to work hard by Gibraltar before coming-out 1-0 winners. Wales plays Gibraltar on Thursday at Rhyl, whilst England take on the Scots at Colwyn Bay.
