News - Parc y Scarlets to host 2010 Welsh Cup Final

Posted: 6 August 2009

The Parc y Scarlets Stadium in Llanelli has been chosen as the venue for the 2009/10 Welsh Cup Final by the Football Association of Wales’ Domestic Committee.

The stadium in Carmarthenshire, which opened in November 2008, successfully held the most recent Final in May 2009, when Bangor City beat Aberystwyth Town 2-0, to claim their second successive Title under Manager Neville Powell.

FAW Head of Competitions, Andrew Howard stated, “The state of the art Stadium provides excellent, comfortable and safe viewing for Spectators, with the very best ancillary facilities. The quality of the playing surface for the Final last May also befitted such an occasion, which delighted both Managers and the players involved.”

“The Media facilities are also outstanding, which provides S4C, the host Broadcaster, with everything that they require for a quality transmission, whilst the Hospitality boxes at the Stadium will allow the Association to offer attractive corporate packages to local businesses and sponsors.”

The seated capacity of the stadium is 13,090 and the 2009/10 Final will be held on either Saturday 1st May 2010 or Sunday 2nd May 2010, subject to agreement between the FAW and S4C.

The Stadium has also hosted Wales International matches, when John Toshack’s senior team beat Estonia 1-0 in a Friendly in May this year and Brian Flynn’s Under 21’s triumphed 5-1 over Luxembourg in a UEFA Championship qualifier in March of this year.

Haverfordwest County's New Bridge Meadow Stadium will host the 2009/10 Women's Final and also the Under 16 Girls Final on the same day, which is confirmed as Sunday 18th April 2010. The Principality Welsh Premier League side hosted both Finals very successfully last year and have been rewarded with the two Finals again.
