Please find here the fixture dates that are available to be used for the Euro 2012 qualifying matches, as well as information on the competition format.
QUALIFYING DATES & OTHER INFORMATION
The following twelve dates are reserved for the group matches in the qualifying competition of the 2010-12 UEFA Football Championship:
2010.
a. Friday 3 / Saturday 4 and Tuesday 7 September 2010.
b. Friday 8 / Saturday 9 and Tuesday 12 October 2010.
2011.
c. Friday 25 / Saturday 26 and Tuesday 29 March 2011.
d. Friday 3 / Saturday 4 and Tuesday 7 June 2011.
e. Friday 2 / Saturday 3 and Tuesday 6 September 2011.
f. Friday 7 / Saturday 8 and Tuesday 11 October 2011
(dates for the last matches in all groups).
The following dates are reserved for the play-off matches between the remaining eight runner-up:
a. Friday 11 / Saturday 12 November 2011.
b. Tuesday 15 November 2011.
The final tournament shall take place from 8 June to 1 July 2012 in Poland and the Ukraine.
The sixteen finalists shall be:
1. The two host countries.
2. The nine group winners.
3. The one best runner-up.
4. The four winners of the play-off matches.
To determine the best runner-up, only results against the teams finishing first, third, fourth and fifth are taken into consideration. Consideration is then given to:
a. Number of points
b. Superior goal difference
c. Highest number of goals scored
d. Highest number of away goals scored
e. Position in the UEFA national team coefficient ranking system
f. Fair play ranking
g. Drawing of lots
