Posted: 13 March 2010
It's FAW Trophy Semi-Final day this afternoon as Glan Conwy face CPD Llanberis in an all-Welsh Alliance clash at Farrar Road, Bangor and Venture Community of Wrexham face Gwent's Clydach Wasps at Rhayader.
Glan Conwy v CPD Llanberis
Farrar Road, Bangor. 2:00pm.
The all Welsh-Alliance clash in Bangor will draw a large crowd, and it's too tight to pick a winner, as just two places separate the rivals in their League. The 2007 Runners' Up Glan Conwy will be hoping to go better than three years ago and claim the Trophy. They are skippered by right-back Shaun Shannon and managed by Jon Chapman.
The Black and Ambers are one of the most historic clubs in North Wales, having been established in 1890. They have not tasted success since the 1987/88 season though, when they claimed both the Barritt Cup and the Cwpan Gwynedd. They are managed by ex-Caernarfon defender Euron Davies and have a squad with a good blend of youth and experience.
Venture Community v Clydach Wasps
Rhayader FC, 2:00pm
This afternoon marks the biggest day in Venture Community's short history. The community club was formed as a club for young children in the Wrexham area in June 1994.They only started a senior team in 1998 in the Suday League. They now play in the Welsh National League and have players in the first team that started off in the under 8's when the club was formed. They are managed by Andy Roberts.
Clydach Wasps were formed in 1977 in the Gwent Central League. Current boss Phil Pritchard has been in charge since he guided the club to the Gwent Central League Championship in 1995/96. They have been Gwent County Champions (2004/05) and have reached this stage of the competition on three occasions. Their dangerman and leading scorer is striker James Hapgood, whilst skipper Nick Francis returns to the club he once played for.
