The second annual FAW Futsal Cup has been launched today with applications now open for the National Competition.

The inaugural FAW Futsal Cup last season saw 28 teams battle it out for a place in the FAW Futsal Cup Finals, with TNS defeating Gap Connah’s Quay in a very entertaining Final last June.

TNS were crowned the inaugural Champions and gained £1,500 in prize money. They then went onto represent Wales in the UEFA Futsal Cup in Geneva, Switzerland in August 2011, bowing out of the competition against teams from the host City, Dublin and Lithuania.

"Last year's competition was a fantastic start for Futsal in Wales. We didn't expect the standard to be so high and as a result, many young Welsh players were identified in the FAW Futsal Cup and they are now involved in the International squad." said FAW Head of Competitions, Andrew Howard.

"I am hoping that there will be more entries this season as its an excellent opportunity to not only showcase skills in the 5-a-side game, but to also qualify for European football, which not many footballers will ever have the opportunity to do."

Squad List and Registrations

Players can be registered if they are aged 16 or above. Clubs can only nominate a squad of a maximum of 20 players. A maximum squad of 14 from that initial list can be used in each of the Qualifying and Final Rounds.

Please note that, as per FIFA Rules, the FAW has a separate 11 a-side and Futsal registration system, so a player can register for separate futsal and eleven-a-side clubs. A player can only be registered with one Futsal team at the same time and International Clearance is required if the player’s previous futsal club was outside Wales.
