Azarenka is Excited Ahead of Lexington Debut

The only match played by Azarenka during this year is Tamara Zidansek in Monterrey. She missed one of the major tournaments, Australian Open, because of her personal reasons. Azarenka has not taken part in a WTA match since falling down to Tamara Zidansek in March and before that she played the match at US Open in 2019. From the past one year, she just played two matches.

At Top Seed Open, she will be seen with her top professional tennis players including Aryna Sabalenka and Serena Williams on Monday. However, this tour was halted from the past three-four months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. By so far, Azarenka has not got a new appreciation for the match that she always loves to enjoy.

In a discussion with the media through a conference call, Azarenka stated she was eagerly waiting to begin the season, but the pandemic forced her to wait so long. She just had one tennis match in and when the match got cancelled due to the COVID-19, she thought to give more time for practising and took a month off.

She concluded that it feels like a good beginning point for her. The match will be super competitive as it includes a number of professional players. It is surely going to be a big opportunity to conduct best matches with top tennis players.

Two-time champion Looks to Return to Action

Azarenka added that she really misses the match. For her, from the last few months, motivation had gone down a lot. She told the media about her challenges of looking for motivation and energy to practice to come back in the competition. Now, she is overjoyed to get back to the match and is not disturbed by playing without an audience. She accepts to welcome the new normal.

She also enjoyed playing a match of the Credit One Bank Invitational in Charleston without her fans. Now, she believes that this new opportunity in Lexington will bring the best experience for her. Every time she plays a match, she looks herself at the top position. Right now, she wants to focus on the aspects and things that have been working well for her and happiness which she gets at the court.

Health and Safety

Currently, Azarenka is focusing on staying safe, strong and healthy as well as testing out the entire experience of planning and playing tennis matches in these new circumstances. She is completely ready to play at this year’s French Open, which will be followed by the US Open. She is excited to look how the US Open turns out for her.

With the new safety and health regulations along with frequent testing and maintaining the social distance of at least two meters, the competition will start with its charm. Apart from imposing so many restrictions by the local authorities in the matches, the players will adjust themselves and make the match happen like before.

Every player is also suggested to be serious and aware of the condition that is happening right now.
