The Argentina Delegation Takes the Stage at the Tokyo 2020 Games
A year later than initially planned and with the Japanese authorities on alert for the increase in coronavirus cases, the great event of world sport will take place.
Although a couple of disciplines have already started their competition for calendar reasons, the official opening of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will take place this Friday.
First, at 7.30 (Argentina time), it will be the turn for the opening ceremony, while from 22 (already in the morning in Japan) activities will begin in the bulk of sports.
The Argentine delegation is made up of 146 athletes and it is the second largest of the last four editions. (213 in Rio 2016, 138 in Beijing 2008 and 137 in London 2012).
Tokyo 2020 will be the setting for the Olympic farewell of several Albiceleste stars: Luis Scola and Paula Paretto, which are two examples of this. At the same time, it is also the first big test for a national hope like swimmer Delfina Pignatiello.
Team sports, basketball, hockey in its two branches, Lucas Guzmán in taekwondo and the Lange-Carranza duo in sailing are the main promises in Tokyo.

Delfina Pignatiello is the name of the young medalist who is excited about swimming. She comes from winning three gold medals at the Pan American Games in Lima and dreams of breaking it in Tokyo.
Pignatiello, 21, will participate in three competitions: on Sunday 25 at 7 he will start with the 400 free qualifying rounds, on Monday 26 it will be the turn of the 1,500 meters and on Thursday 29, the start of the 800.

Argentina is part of Group C with Slovenia (Monday 7/26 at 1.40 am), Spain (Thursday 29 at 9 am) and Japan (Sunday 8/1 at 1.40 am). The top two from each group and the top two third-placed teams advance to the quarterfinals.
Hockey: To roar with force
Leones and Leonas are two of the strong candidates to fight for a medal in Tokyo.

Las Leonas also make up Group B with New Zealand, Spain, China, Japan and Australia. His first game will be in the early hours of Sunday. The best four will advance to the next round.
